Joan Fitzgerald Joan Fitzgerald, an author and artist, attended the Rochester Institute of Technology and subsequently earned a B.S. and an M.S. in Art Education from Buffalo State College. Joan's paintings and collages have been exhibited in 71 national and international exhibitions and Joan has received eight international awards.

Twenty years of teaching art at Hamburg Junior High School have given Joan many real-life experiences that furnish the material for her children's books. Now retired from her full-time post as Fine Arts Instructor at Erie Community College, Joan is creating more stories for young readers.

In 2004, Marble House published Joan’s second book, Not Another Christmas, the tale about what happened the year Santa decided to take a vacation. Following her books for young readers, Joan wrote three teenage mysteries: The Iris House, Dark Towers, and Merry-Go-Round. Her most recent work is Squash by Josh, b’gosh!, a picture book about a boy who has big ambitions for his small urban garden.
